vaiśākhe śuklapakṣe tu tṛtīyāyāṃ ca bhāmini | snātvā tu tarpayedbhaktyā tiladarbhajalaiḥ priye | śrāddhaṃ kṛtaṃ bhavettena gaṃgāyāṃ nātra saṃśayaḥ
Īśvara (Śiva) (deduced from immediate chapter-context style of Prabhāsakṣetra Māhātmya dialogues)
Tirtha: Nyaṅkumatī (Prabhāsa-kṣetra)
Type: ghat
Listener: (addressed) Bhāminī/Priyā—Pārvatī implied by vocatives in the passage
Scene: A springtime Vaiśākha morning: pilgrims bathe, then perform tarpaṇa with tila and darbha; a subtle vision of Gaṅgā appears as a divine river-goddess blessing the rite, signifying equivalence.
Devotional performance of ancestral rites at a sanctified tīrtha is upheld as equal to the highest-known standards of merit, here symbolized by the Gaṅgā.
Prabhāsakṣetra (within Prabhāsa Khaṇḍa), whose rites are declared equivalent to those done at the Gaṅgā.
Snāna (bathing) followed by tarpaṇa using tila (sesame), darbha, and water, yielding the fruit of śrāddha.
