pulastya uvāca | tatrasthasya purā rājanmudgalasya mahātmanaḥ | vimānaṃ varamādāya devadūtaḥ samāgataḥ
Pulastya
Tirtha: Mudgala-āśrama (at Māmuhrada)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Yayāti
Scene: In a quiet forest hermitage, a radiant deva-messenger descends, holding or guiding a splendid vimāna that hovers above the āśrama, while Mudgala remains composed.
Great tapas and dharma draw divine recognition; heavenly rewards are portrayed as approaching the righteous unbidden.
The setting remains the Māmuhrada/Arbuda sacred region context where Mudgala resides, forming part of the local māhātmya.
None directly; the verse introduces the narrative of reward (vimāna) coming to a mahātmā.
