Sūta
Type: tirtha
Listener: dvija-sattamāḥ
Scene: A sequence tableau: devotees listening to a tīrtha-kathā, then meditating, then bathing at a ghat, then offering charity to a brāhmaṇa/poor, then touching the sacred water/stone steps with folded hands—each vignette radiating cleansing light that dispels dark ‘pāpa’ forms.
Tīrthas purify through multiple channels—knowledge (hearing), inner worship (meditation), ritual (bathing), ethics (charity), and embodied reverence (touch).
The statement applies broadly to the tīrthas established in the Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra being discussed.
Śravaṇa (hearing), dhyāna (meditation), snāna (sacred bath), dāna (charity), and sparśa (reverent touch/contact) are listed as means of purification.
