dūrādatithayo yasya gṛhamāyāṃti nirvṛtāḥ | sa gṛhastha iti proktaḥ śeṣāśca gṛharakṣiṇaḥ
جس کے گھر مہمان دور سے بھی خوشی سے آتے ہیں، وہی حقیقی معنی میں ‘گِرہستھ’ کہلاتا ہے؛ باقی تو محض گھر کے نگہبان ہیں۔
Sūta
Scene: A prosperous yet simple home with an open threshold; travelers approach smiling; the householder stands ready with water and food—depicting the home as a ‘magnet’ for guests due to dharmic reputation.
A home becomes sacred through generosity; the gṛhastha is defined by service, not mere possession.
No tīrtha is specified in this verse; it presents a universal standard of dharma.
Cultivating a household culture of welcome and service so that guests depart satisfied.
