नैव शेकुस्तदंगेषु प्रहर्तुं यत्नमास्थिताः । भक्ष्यंते केवलं तेन शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः

naiva śekustadaṃgeṣu prahartuṃ yatnamāsthitāḥ | bhakṣyaṃte kevalaṃ tena śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ

وہ جتنی کوشش کرتے رہے، اس کے اعضا پر ضرب لگانے میں ہرگز کامیاب نہ ہوئے؛ بلکہ وہ تو اسی کے ہاتھوں نگلے جاتے رہے—پہلے سینکڑوں کی تعداد میں، پھر ہزاروں کی تعداد میں۔
