māyāmayepi saṃsāre ye vihṛtya ciraṃ sukham | muktimicchanti dehāṃte teṣāṃ dharmoyamīritaḥ
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa/Sūta)
Scene: A mature seeker, adorned with signs of past luxury, stands at a crossroads: one path toward worldly pleasures dissolves like illusion (māyā), the other toward a temple and ascetic symbols; a scripture scroll declares ‘dharma for mokṣa’.
Even after a life of worldly enjoyment, one can turn toward liberation; the Purāṇa offers an applicable dharma for such seekers.
No tīrtha is specified in this verse; it functions as a transition into a practice-oriented instruction.
The verse introduces a forthcoming dharma (practice); the specific prescriptions appear in the following verses on Śiva-pūjā.
