Mārkaṇḍeya (narration to Pārtha/Yudhiṣṭhira)
Tirtha: Muṇḍinā
Type: kshetra
Listener: Yudhiṣṭhira (addressed as Pārtha)
Scene: A radiant Śiva shrine titled Muṇḍinā; pilgrims arrive in Kārttika with lamps; the temple is portrayed as a sin-destroying locus, with inscriptions proclaiming ‘Gayā-tulya’.
Pilgrimage and worship at a Śaiva shrine can destroy sins; Kārttika magnifies the fruit of devotion.
Muṇḍinā—an āyatana of Śiva (Śūlin), praised as sin-destroying and auspicious.
Implied: undertake worship/pilgrimage especially in Kārttika; the verse highlights time-specific potency rather than a detailed rite.
