ब्रह्मचारी तु यो भूत्वा तत्र तीर्थे नरेश्वर । स्नात्वार्चयेन्महादेवं सोऽश्वमेधफलं लभेत्
brahmacārī tu yo bhūtvā tatra tīrthe nareśvara | snātvārcayenmahādevaṃ so'śvamedhaphalaṃ labhet
اے نر ایشور! جو برہماچاری بن کر اُس تیرتھ میں غسل کرے اور وہاں مہادیو کی ارچنا کرے، وہ اشومیدھ یَجْن کے برابر ثواب پاتا ہے۔
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) to the sages (deduced from Āvantya/Revā tīrtha-māhātmya style)
Tirtha: Revā-tīrtha (contextual)
Type: ghat
Listener: Nareśvara (addressed: 'O lord of men')
Scene: A youthful brahmacārin pilgrim with staff and waterpot stands at the river, completes snāna, then offers flowers and bilva to a Śiva-liṅga; a symbolic horse and sacrificial paraphernalia appear faintly to indicate Aśvamedha equivalence.
Discipline (brahmacarya) joined with tīrtha-snāna and Śiva-worship magnifies merit to the level of great Vedic sacrifices.
A Revā (Narmadā) tīrtha associated with Gautameśvara/Mahādeva in the Revā Khaṇḍa of the Āvantya Khaṇḍa.
Observe brahmacarya, bathe at the tīrtha, and worship Mahādeva.
