sacailaḥ klinnavasano maunamāsthāya saṃyataḥ | aṣṭamyāṃ vā caturdaśyāmupoṣya vidhivannaraḥ

کپڑے پہنے ہوئے، بھیگے لباس سمیت، خاموشی اختیار کرکے اور ضبط کے ساتھ—آدمی کو قاعدے کے مطابق اَشٹمی یا چَتُردشی کو روزہ (اُپواس) رکھنا چاہیے۔
