The verse is a Devi-stuti that frames the Goddess as the visible form of maṅgala (auspicious grace): she illumines the devotee’s path (dīpikā) and bestows well-being and spiritual fortune, leading the pashu (bound soul) toward Shiva through her compassionate power.
In Saguna Shiva worship, Shiva is adored together with Shakti; this hymn praises the auspicious, grace-giving dimension through which the devotee gains purity and readiness for Linga worship—seeing the Divine Couple as inseparable in granting protection, merit, and inner illumination.
Use this as a brief japa-style praise before Shiva–Parvati puja: recite the verse with devotion, then continue with Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), offering lamp (dīpa) and vibhūti/tripuṇḍra as symbols of illumination and purification.
