ہم ہزار دیوی برسوں تک طویل سَتر میں بیٹھے رہے۔ اب تمہارے ورود کے سوا ہمارے پاس مانگنے کو کچھ بھی نہیں۔
The assembled sages (ṛṣis) addressing Suta Goswami in the Naimiṣāraṇya narrative frame
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Merit of sustained sattra and śravaṇa; readiness for Śiva-tattva upadeśa through humility and longing for the teacher’s presence.
Offering: naivedya
Cosmic Event: Divine-timescale austerity: ‘thousand divine years’ (divya-varṣa-sahasra) emphasizing supra-human duration.
It teaches that the highest fruit of austerity and ritual is fulfilled when true spiritual guidance arrives—satsanga and sacred narration become the direct doorway to Shiva-knowledge (Pati-jñāna) and liberation.
By valuing the teacher’s arrival over all other boons, the sages indicate that hearing Shiva’s glories and doctrines (as taught in Purana-katha) is the living support for Saguna worship—Linga-bhakti matures through right instruction and remembrance.
Prioritize śravaṇa (devotional listening) and nāma-japa—especially the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as the essential practice that completes ritual effort with inner devotion.
