सर्वेश्वर-परमकारण-निरूपणम् / The Supreme Lord as the Uncaused Cause
एतन्मनोमयं चक्रं मया सृष्टं विसृज्यते । यत्रास्य शीर्यते नेमिः स देशस्तपसश्शुभः
etanmanomayaṃ cakraṃ mayā sṛṣṭaṃ visṛjyate | yatrāsya śīryate nemiḥ sa deśastapasaśśubhaḥ
Lord Shiva (as the supreme Pati teaching through the Vayu Samhita’s yogic-philosophical narration)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: A cosmo-ritual etiology: a ‘mind-made wheel’ is created and released; where its rim breaks becomes a tapas-kṣetra. This resembles a mythic charter for sacred geography rather than a single Jyotirliṅga origin.
Significance: Sanctifies landscape through divine intentionality: places are holy because they are ‘touched’ by Śiva’s will and become fit for tapas, i.e., for pāśa-kṣaya and anugraha.
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that sacred geography is not merely external: the Lord’s will (Pati) can reveal auspicious fields for tapas, and the “mind-made wheel” points to the mind as a subtle instrument whose movement determines where spiritual intensity manifests.
It supports Saguna Shiva’s role as the compassionate guide who establishes holy places and conditions for sādhana; such places become fit for Linga-worship, japa, and meditation because they are marked by Shiva’s intentional “release” of spiritual potency.
Undertake tapas in a consecrated/holy place with steady mind—practically expressed in Shaiva practice as japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), dhyāna on Shiva, and disciplined observances (optionally with bhasma/tripuṇḍra and rudrāksha as supports).
