Role: teaching
Cosmic Event: Dvāpara-yuga context: re-articulation of purāṇic corpus alongside Vedic arrangement
It affirms the Purāṇas as intentionally composed scriptures, arranged in the Dvāpara age by Vyāsa, so that seekers may access dharma and Shiva-centered liberating knowledge (śiva-jñāna) suited to their time.
By establishing the Purāṇas’ compilation, it supports the scriptural foundation through which Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga devotion, vrata, and bhakti—becomes accessible and properly transmitted.
The verse primarily points to śravaṇa and svādhyāya (listening and study) of Purāṇic Shiva teachings; as a practical takeaway, one may pair this with daily Panchākṣarī japa—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as taught across Shaiva tradition.
