Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Parvati
Role: liberating
This verse centers on śaraṇāgati—taking refuge in Śiva as Sarveśvara. In Shaiva Siddhānta, liberation is ultimately secured by the Lord’s anugraha (grace); the prayer asks for that prasāda from the compassionate Pati who protects surrendered souls (paśu).
The address “Devadeva, Mahādeva, Gaurīśa” is Saguna-focused—worshipping Śiva with attributes and relationships. Such devotion naturally expresses itself in Liṅga-pūjā, where the devotee approaches the visible emblem of the Supreme and prays for Śiva’s pleasure (prasannatā).
A simple takeaway is devotional japa and namaskāra: repeat the pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” while offering salutations, cultivating surrender (śaraṇāgati) and seeking Śiva’s grace (prasāda).
