The sages (Ṛṣis) of Naimiṣāraṇya addressing Sūta
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
It praises śravaṇa (devout listening) of Śiva’s supreme narrative as an auspicious act that supports bhakti and invites Śiva’s grace (anugraha), which is central to liberation-oriented Shaiva practice.
By honoring the Śāṅkarī kathā, the sages affirm devotion to Saguna Śiva—approached through sacred narration, names, and deeds—which traditionally culminates in concrete worship such as Liṅga-pūjā and remembrance of Śiva’s forms.
The implied practice is śravaṇa of Śiva-kathā in satsanga—listening with reverence—often paired in tradition with japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and simple Liṅga worship.
