Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Bhairava
Sthala Purana: The verse generalizes a ‘tapas-vigil’ night marked by heightened bhūta activity; it implicitly frames Śiva as the Lord of bhūtas (Bhūtanātha/Bhairava aspect), where proper worship through the watches overcomes fear/obstruction.
Significance: General benefit: worship across all yāmas with kīrtana/nṛtya is presented as protective and merit-generating, transforming an inauspicious night into a Śiva-centered sacred time.
Type: stotra
Offering: dhupa
It teaches that disciplined night-long vigilance (jāgaraṇa) and repeated worship through the night transform fear of dark influences into devotion, keeping the mind steady in Śiva-bhakti and oriented toward liberation.
The instruction to worship in every yāma aligns with Saguna Śiva-upāsanā—repeated offerings and praise to the manifest Lord (often through the Liṅga), sustaining continuous remembrance and reverence.
Keep a Mahāśivarātri-style jāgaraṇa, perform worship in each watch of the night with hymns and devotional singing (kīrtana/nṛtya), and maintain focused reverence—supporting mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
