nolūkhale na musale na varddhanyāṃ dṛṣadyapi | na yaṃtrake na dehalyāṃ satī ca pravasetkvacit

It teaches that outer discipline and auspicious conduct support inner purity (sattva), making the mind fit for Shiva-bhakti; avoiding impure or inauspicious places is a practical dharmic guard for spiritual life.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana emphasizes śauca (cleanliness) and maryādā (proper decorum); such restraints prepare the devotee to approach Saguna Shiva with reverence, steadiness, and ritual purity.
A takeaway is to maintain bodily and domestic cleanliness before japa or pūjā—apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) with reverence, perform Panchākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and keep the worship space and one’s seat (āsana) pure and respectful.
