Himālaya Mission of the Gods’ Preceptor / The Gods Send Their Guru
त्वं भक्तवत्सलः स्वामिन्भक्तकार्यकरस्सदा । दीनोद्धरः कृपासिन्धुर्भक्तापद्विनिमोचकः
tvaṃ bhaktavatsalaḥ svāminbhaktakāryakarassadā | dīnoddharaḥ kṛpāsindhurbhaktāpadvinimocakaḥ
Parvati
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Emphasizes Śiva’s bhaktavātsalya as the experiential sign of anugraha: the Lord actively removes āpad (calamity) and raises the dīna, illustrating grace operating within saṃsāra to lead beyond it.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It presents Śiva as Pati (the compassionate Lord) whose grace responds to bhakti—uplifting the dīna (humble and afflicted) and removing devotees’ suffering, emphasizing surrender and divine mercy as a path toward liberation.
The verse supports Saguna worship: devotees approach Śiva as a personal Lord—bhaktavatsala—seeking protection and fulfillment of righteous aims; Linga worship embodies this accessible, grace-bestowing presence while pointing to the transcendent Shiva beyond form.
Practice heartfelt bhakti with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), along with simple Shiva-upāsanā such as offering water to the Liṅga and wearing/using Rudrākṣa for steady remembrance, praying specifically for removal of apad (inner and outer obstacles).
