(Deva-stuti) — “Hymn of the Devas / Divine Praise”
devā ūcuḥ | devyume jagatāmamba śivalokanivāsinī | sadāśivapriye durge tvāṃ namāmo maheśvari
The Devas
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It presents Umā/ Durgā as the universal Mother and the beloved power of Sadāśiva, showing that devotion in the Śaiva path honors Śiva together with His Śakti, the gracious source of protection and spiritual uplift.
In Saguna worship, the Liṅga is revered with Śiva’s inseparable Śakti; this verse models that devotional approach by saluting Maheśvarī as dwelling in Śiva’s own realm and as Sadāśiva’s beloved.
A simple bhakti practice is implied: offer namaskāra and recite names such as “Umā, Durgā, Maheśvarī” alongside Śiva worship (e.g., during Liṅga-pūjā), maintaining the contemplation of Śiva-Śakti unity.
