Pārvatī’s Vow of Truth and the Dialogue on Her Tapas
dvija uvāca | yadi śrotumanā devi māṃ sthāpayasi bhaktitaḥ | vadāmi tattvaṃ tatsarvaṃ yena te vayunambhavet
Dvija (a brāhmaṇa sage)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It emphasizes that tattva-jñāna (true understanding of reality) arises through bhakti and śravaṇa—humble, attentive listening to sacred instruction—leading the seeker toward right discernment.
The verse sets the devotional posture required for Shaiva instruction: reverent receptivity. In Shiva Purana practice, such śraddhā-filled listening supports Saguna worship (like Linga-upāsanā) and ripens it into deeper insight into Shiva-tattva.
The practical takeaway is śravaṇa with devotion—sitting respectfully before the teacher and receiving Shaiva teachings. This is commonly paired in Shaiva tradition with mantra-japa (e.g., Panchākṣarī) and disciplined contemplation to mature discernment.
