कुमाराद्भुतचरितवर्णनम् — Description of Kumāra’s Wondrous Deeds
जगामाऽथ स वैकुंठं तत्राऽजं प्रददर्श तम् । उपद्रवं प्रकुर्वन्तं गलयूपं महाबलम्
jagāmā'tha sa vaikuṃṭhaṃ tatrā'jaṃ pradadarśa tam | upadravaṃ prakurvantaṃ galayūpaṃ mahābalam
پھر وہ ویکُنٹھ گیا اور وہاں اُس اَج ربّ (برہما) کو دیکھا؛ اور مہابلی گَلَیُوپ کو بھی دیکھا جو ہنگامہ برپا کر رہا تھا۔

The verse highlights how “upadrava” (cosmic disturbance) arises when disruptive forces gain strength, and how the divine realms respond to restore dharma—an underlying Shaiva theme where Pati (the Lord) ultimately safeguards order and liberation.
Though the Liṅga is not named here, the narrative framework of the Shiva Purana consistently points to Saguna Shiva as the supreme regulator who resolves upheavals; such episodes prepare the ground for turning to Shiva’s worship for protection, purification, and the re-establishment of right order.
As a practical takeaway during times of “upadrava,” Shaiva practice recommends steadiness in japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and maintaining purity with Tripuṇḍra-bhasma and Rudrākṣa devotion, seeking Shiva’s protection and inner composure.
