Episode of Obstacles to Gautama; Gaṇeśa’s Appearing Through Misguided Worship
gaṇeśa uvāca | bhavadbhiḥ prārthyate yacca kariṣye'haṃ tathā khalu | paścādbhāvi bhavedeva ityuktvāṃtardadhe punaḥ
Ganesha
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: teaching
The verse highlights śraddhā (faith) and niyati (right timing): sincere prayer is acknowledged, but fruition unfolds “in due course,” emphasizing trust in divine grace rather than impatience.
As a foremost Gaṇapati within the Shaiva fold, Ganesha functions as a grace-bearing intermediary who removes obstacles for Saguna worship—supporting the devotee’s approach to Shiva’s Linga and Jyotirlinga pilgrimage with confidence.
A practical takeaway is to offer a brief Gaṇeśa-prārthanā before Shiva worship—then continue japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steadiness, accepting that results manifest at the proper time.
