Rig Veda 1.7.1: Mandala 1, Sukta 7, Mantra 1

Sukta 1.7

Rishi: Madhucchandas Vaiśvāmitra (traditional attribution for RV 1.1–1.11; RV 1.7 commonly placed under this seer in Anukramaṇī tradition)
Devata: Indra
Chandas: Gāyatrī (dominant meter of RV 1.1–1.10; this verse conforms to the compact praise style typical of Gāyatrī)

इन्द्रमिद्गाथिनो बृहदिन्द्रमर्केभिरर्किणः । इन्द्रं वाणीरनूषत ॥

índram íd gāthíno bṛhád índram arkébhiḥ arkíṇaḥ | índraṃ vā́ṇīr anūṣata ||

It is Indra indeed whom the chanters affirm—Indra the Vast; Indra whom the makers of hymns strengthen with their luminous chants. The inspired voices have praised Indra.
