Prahasta’s Departure and the Muster of the Rakshasa Host
ततस्तंरथमास्थायरावणार्पितशासनः ।लङ्कायानिर्ययौतूर्णंबलेनमहतावृतः ।।।।
tatas taṃ ratham āsthāya rāvaṇārpita-śāsanaḥ |
laṅkāyā niryayau tūrṇaṃ balena mahatā vṛtaḥ ||6.57.28||
پھر وہ اس رتھ پر بیٹھ کر، راون کے سپرد کردہ حکم کے مطابق، بڑی فوج کے گھیرے میں، تیزی سے لنکا سے روانہ ہوا۔
Then, by the order of Ravana, Prahastha set out immediately and departed from Lanka taking a se at in the chariot, surrounded by the great army.
The verse highlights obedience to authority as a social duty, while also raising a dharmic question central to the Ramayana: obedience is not automatically righteous—true dharma requires discerning whether the command aligns with satya and justice.
Prahastha, appointed by Rāvaṇa, leaves Lanka immediately in a chariot, escorted by a large army, to engage in battle.
Prompt execution of assigned duty (decisiveness and operational discipline), albeit in service of Rāvaṇa’s campaign.
