इयंचदण्डकारण्याद्रामस्यमहिषीमया ।रक्षोभिश्चरितोद्देशादानीताजनकात्मजा ।।6.12.12।।
iyaṃ ca daṇḍakāraṇyād rāmasya mahiṣī mayā | rakṣobhiś caritoddeśād ānītā janakātmajā ||
یہ جنک کی دختر، سیتا—رام کی مہیشی—کو میں دندکارنیہ سے، اس مقام سے جہاں راکشسوں کی آمد و رفت رہتی تھی، اٹھا کر لے آیا ہوں۔
"This Sita, the consort of Rama was brought from D and akaranya, a place where rakshasas wander."
By contrast, the verse highlights adharma: abducting another’s wife violates rāja-dharma and basic ethics, becoming a root cause of social and cosmic disorder.
Rāvaṇa recounts to his assembly that he brought Sītā from Daṇḍakāraṇya, identifying her as Rāma’s consort and Janaka’s daughter.
No virtue is celebrated here; the speech underscores Rāvaṇa’s pride and moral blindness regarding wrongdoing.
