Narrator addressing the brāhmaṇas (dvijas) within the ongoing dialogue (exact named speaker not specified in the provided verse alone)

Concept: Śravaṇa (reverent listening) and accurate transmission are themselves dharmic acts; knowledge is received through paramparā with humility and care.

Application: Adopt a daily śravaṇa habit: read a small portion of Purāṇa/Gītā, listen without multitasking, and repeat only what you have verified—truthful speech as spiritual practice.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A sage-narrator pauses mid-discourse, lifting his hand in a gentle gesture of transition, while a semicircle of brāhmaṇas lean forward, attentive and still. Palm-leaf manuscripts and a water-pot rest beside the speaker, and the air feels charged with the promise of ‘what remains’ to be revealed.","primary_figures":["purāṇic narrator-sage","dvija listeners"],"setting":"forest āśrama or celestial lecture-hall depending on staging; low seats of kusa grass, manuscript stand, ritual water vessel","lighting_mood":"forest dappled","color_palette":["warm ochre","leaf green","smoke gray","sandalwood beige","deep maroon"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: sage on a small throne with palm-leaf manuscript, dvija audience in orderly rows, gesture of ‘now I shall speak of what remains’; gold leaf on manuscript edges and halos, rich maroon and emerald drapery, ornate borders, traditional iconographic calm.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate āśrama teaching scene under a tree, delicate brushwork on attentive faces, manuscripts and water-pot rendered with fine detail, cool greens and browns with soft light, lyrical quietness and refined expressions.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: teacher-sage with bold outlines and expressive eyes, dvijas seated in a semicircle, stylized tree canopy above, warm yellow-red-green palette, temple-wall framing motifs emphasizing instruction and continuity.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: symmetrical satsanga scene framed by floral borders and lotus motifs, deep blue backdrop with gold highlights, the sage centered like a devotional focal point, audience arranged in rhythmic patterns suggesting disciplined listening."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["tanpura drone","page rustle (subtle)","birds in forest","single bell at transition","silence"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: द्विजपुंगवाः इति समासः (षष्ठी-तत्पुरुष). शृणुत इति आज्ञार्थक-लोट्।

FAQs

It signals a traditional claim of faithful transmission—what follows is narrated “as heard,” emphasizing continuity of received teaching rather than personal invention.

The terms address brāhmaṇas as qualified hearers and preservers of sacred discourse; “dvijapuṃgava” specifically means “foremost among the twice-born.”

The verse models careful teaching: speak systematically (“what remains”), and listen attentively—valuing accurate transmission and disciplined learning.
