Concept: Seal practice with Oṃ and dissolve individuality into the Supreme; then meditate on the Lord present in the expanse of space—immanent yet transcendent.

Application: Begin japa/puja with Oṃ, end with a quiet pause; practice open-sky meditation (or inner ‘space’ of the heart) to cultivate detachment and devotion together.

Primary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

Oṃ is presented as the concluding sacred utterance that seals the practice, after which the practitioner mentally dissolves individuality into the Paramātman.

Īśāna is a name of Śiva signifying sovereign lordship; meditating on him in ākāśa emphasizes subtle, all-pervading presence and a formless (or minimally formed) contemplative focus.

It teaches inner discipline: end actions with sacred remembrance, reduce ego through absorption in the Supreme, and cultivate steady contemplation rather than outward display.
