FAQs

It opens a dialogue where Yudhiṣṭhira requests an account of Prayāga—its pilgrimage route and nature—specifically as understood in an earlier cosmic age.

Prayāga is repeatedly treated as a premier tīrtha (sacred ford), associated with pilgrimage, purification, and merit; this verse signals a forthcoming detailed tīrtha-māhātmya-style description.

The question frames pilgrimage as a conscious, inquiry-driven practice—seeking accurate tradition (yathāsthitam) and understanding the proper manner of undertaking sacred travel.
