The Destruction of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice

पतिस्नेह समायुक्तां प्राणेभ्योपि गरीयसीम् । अंकमारोप्य तां बालां साध्वीं पतिपरायणाम्

patisneha samāyuktāṃ prāṇebhyopi garīyasīm | aṃkamāropya tāṃ bālāṃ sādhvīṃ patiparāyaṇām

شوہر کی محبت سے لبریز، جان سے بھی زیادہ عزیز، اُس کم سن سادھوی—پتی پرایَنہ—کو گود میں اٹھا کر اُس نے اپنے سینے سے لگا لیا۔

Narrator (context not provided in the input; exact speaker uncertain)

Concept: Compassionate reassurance and protection of the devoted (sādhvī, pati-parāyaṇā) is itself dharma; love expressed through care steadies a distressed heart.

Application: When someone is distressed, offer embodied reassurance—listen, comfort, and protect their dignity; treat devotion and sincerity with gentleness, not suspicion.

Primary Rasa: shringara

Secondary Rasa: karuna

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"An elder lifts the young sādhvī onto his lap, cradling her like a frightened fawn returned to safety. Her eyes are moist with longing, yet her posture shows unwavering fidelity; the elder’s face is calm, protective, and ready to explain the truth that will heal the rupture.","primary_figures":["Dakṣa Prajāpati (or elder authority figure)","young sādhvī devoted to her husband"],"setting":"quiet corner of the assembly hall, cushioned seat, soft textiles, ritual lamps in the background now secondary to the intimate act of consolation","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["warm gold","lotus pink","cream white","copper brown","soft teal"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: intimate consoling scene with the elder seated on an ornate throne-like āsana, the young sādhvī on his lap, gold leaf highlighting halos, lamps, and jewelry, rich reds and greens, detailed textiles, serene protective expressions, traditional iconographic symmetry softened by tenderness.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: gentle domestic intimacy with delicate brushwork, refined faces, soft dawn light, pastel creams and pinks, subtle emotional nuance in eyes and hands, quiet architectural background, lyrical tenderness.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines and stylized eyes conveying compassion, warm yellow-red palette, the elder’s protective arms forming a strong curve, temple lamp motifs, natural pigment texture, dignified yet intimate composition.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: devotional tenderness framed by lotus borders, deep blues and gold accents, floral motifs suggesting purity, the sādhvī’s fidelity symbolized by a small lotus near her hand, peacocks subdued, intricate textile patterns emphasizing sanctity of care."}

FAQs

It highlights the ideal of pativratā/patiparāyaṇā—single-minded devotion and loyalty to one’s husband—described as dearer than life itself.

It is primarily narrative description: someone lifts the virtuous young wife onto his lap, emphasizing her character (sādhvī, patiparāyaṇā) as part of the scene.

It underscores the intensity of attachment/valuing—here framed as marital devotion—used in Purāṇic literature to exemplify steadfast commitment as a moral ideal.
