Rāghava (Rāma)

Concept: Tapas matures through firm resolve and right orientation; the worth of austerity depends on the plane of existence and intention behind it.

Application: Before undertaking any discipline (fasting, vows, meditation), clarify the aim and cultivate steadiness; ask teachers directly rather than practicing blindly.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

He asks a divine figure (addressed as “lord of the immortals”) in which form of birth or state of existence the increase of tapas (austerity/spiritual discipline) is most firmly established.

“Yoni” can mean womb or species/birth, and by extension a condition of embodied life—suggesting a question about which kind of existence best supports spiritual discipline.

The verse highlights discernment and steadfastness: spiritual progress is linked to dṛḍha-niścaya (firm resolve) and the deliberate cultivation of tapas rather than mere status or power.
