Not explicitly stated in the provided excerpt (context-dependent within Brahma-khaṇḍa 4.21).

Concept: Offer dāna and feed brāhmaṇas for Śrī Hari’s pleasure; keep night vigil with devotional arts; even hearing this with bhakti destroys sin.

Application: Turn celebration into devotion: give within means, feed the learned/holy, and replace idle night-time with kīrtana, bhajana, or mindful vigil; also practice daily śravaṇa (listening/reading).

Primary Rasa: bhakti (shanta)

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Inside a lamp-lit temple hall, devotees keep a joyful night vigil—some sing with cymbals, others dance in gentle circles—while offerings are arranged before Śrī Hari. At the side, brāhmaṇas are respectfully served a meal, and a listener sits near the doorway, absorbed in hearing the vrata teaching as a dark mist of sin lifts away.","primary_figures":["Śrī Hari (Vishnu) murti or radiant form","Vrata-vrati (devotees)","Brāhmaṇas being fed","Kīrtana singers and dancers","Listener (śrotā)"],"setting":"Temple mandapa or spacious home shrine during Kārttika; rows of oil lamps, garlands, offering trays, and a dining area for brāhmaṇa-bhojana.","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["lamp-gold","deep indigo","vermillion","emerald green","ivory"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Vishnu enthroned with gold leaf halo, ornate arch, gem-studded crown; foreground shows devotees dancing and singing with cymbals and mridanga; to the side, brāhmaṇas seated on mats receiving anna-dāna; rich reds/greens, embossed gold lamps, intricate textile patterns, celebratory yet sacred composition.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate night kīrtana in a courtyard with many small diyas; delicate figures with refined faces, soft gestures of dance; Vishnu icon in a niche with garlands; cool blues and warm lamp highlights, lyrical trees and a quiet sky beyond, fine brushwork on instruments and cloth folds.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, rhythmic procession of singers and dancers; Vishnu in deep blue with yellow-red-green garments; stylized lamps in repeating patterns; brāhmaṇas receiving food in a balanced panel; temple-wall aesthetic, expressive eyes, natural pigment textures.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central Vishnu/Keśava shrine framed by lotus and floral borders; rows of lamps and garlands; devotees in kīrtana with peacocks perched above; brāhmaṇa-bhojana depicted as orderly offerings; deep blue ground with gold and vermillion accents, intricate textile-like detailing."}

Ś
Śrī Hari (Viṣṇu)

FAQs

It recommends charity for Śrī Hari’s pleasure, feeding brāhmaṇas, and keeping a night vigil (jāgaraṇa) supported by devotional arts such as singing and dancing.

It centers the practices on pleasing Śrī Hari and adds that devotional hearing (śravaṇa) of this teaching itself—done with bhakti—destroys sin.

The verse links devotion with social-religious responsibility: generosity (dāna) and hospitality/feeding (bhojana) are presented as integral expressions of a vow-led devotional life.
