Unspecified (contextual narrator/instructor on vrata timing)

Concept: When Daśamī persists into aruṇodaya, Ekādaśī shifts: fast on Dvādaśī and break on Trayodaśī—dharma is protected by correct timing.

Application: Consult a reliable pañcāṅga; if Daśamī touches aruṇodaya, follow the prescribed shift (Dvādaśī upavāsa, Trayodaśī pāraṇa) rather than personal convenience.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A Vaiṣṇava household prepares for a vow: a palm-leaf pañcāṅga is open beside a lamp, and the elder points to the tithi line where Daśamī spills into the rosy edge of dawn. The family rearranges offerings—fasting implements set for Dvādaśī, and a tray for pāraṇa reserved for Trayodaśī—showing dharma as careful choreography.","primary_figures":["vaiṣṇava elder (ācārya-like)","householder devotee","family members preparing vrata items"],"setting":"courtyard shrine with Vishnu image, tulasi pot (as a common household element), lamp, conch, and calendar/pañcāṅga","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["lamp gold","rose dawn","deep teal","ivory white","marigold orange"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: domestic shrine scene with Vishnu icon at center, devotee consulting a pañcāṅga while indicating Daśamī remainder at aruṇodaya; Dvādaśī fasting items (water pot, fruits set aside but untouched) and Trayodaśī pāraṇa tray; gold leaf on lamp flames and Vishnu halo, rich reds/greens, ornate borders and jewel-like detailing.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate household courtyard at dawn, delicate lines showing a calendar and ritual vessels; soft pink sky, cool shadows; refined faces, gentle gestures of rescheduling the vow; small tulasi plant and conch rendered with lyrical naturalism.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, warm pigment blocks; central Vishnu panel, devotee pointing to a stylized pañcāṅga; ritual vessels arranged in clear rows; dawn gradient in red-yellow-green palette, temple-wall symmetry.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: ornate floral border with lotuses; central shrine with Vishnu/Krishna presence implied, devotees arranging Dvādaśī upavāsa and Trayodaśī pāraṇa items; deep blues and gold, intricate textile patterns, peacocks near the border, devotional domesticity."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"narrative","suggested_raga":"Yaman","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["temple bell (single strikes)","pages/palm leaves rustle","soft conch note","morning birds","oil lamp crackle"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes:

FAQs

If the pre-dawn period (aruṇodaya) falls while the Daśamī tithi still remains, then the fast is assigned to Dvādaśī and the pāraṇa is done on Trayodaśī.

Aruṇodaya refers to the pre-sunrise dawn period used in traditional calendrical decisions; the verse treats its tithi-connection as decisive for scheduling the observance.

It emphasizes disciplined adherence to proper timing in religious observances—performing vows according to dharmic rules rather than convenience.
