Concept: Wrongly contemplating one’s action (karmavicāra) warps its outcome; daiva becomes adversarial, binding and harming the agent.

Application: Audit recurring thoughts about your duties; replace self-justifying or resentful narratives with truthful intention, prayer, and sattvic resolve—especially before sleep, since the verse includes svapna (dream) as a karmic echo-chamber.

Primary Rasa: bhayanaka

Secondary Rasa: karuna

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A lone sādhaka sits half-awake at the threshold of sleep, his thoughts splitting into two mirrored streams—one clear and luminous, the other twisted and smoky. From the smoky stream rises a shadowy figure of Daiva, forming chains that coil around the man’s wrists, while a distant Vishnu-temple lamp glows as the path of correction.","primary_figures":["A contemplative seeker","Personified Daiva (shadowy, binding force)","A distant Vishnu presence suggested by a temple lamp or conch emblem"],"setting":"A simple hut or forest hermitage at night, with a small altar and a single oil lamp; dreamlike mist blending waking and sleep.","lighting_mood":"moonlit with ominous chiaroscuro, contrasted by a small divine lamp-glow","color_palette":["indigo night","smoke gray","lamp-gold","ash white","deep maroon"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: a central seated devotee before a small Vishnu altar, ornate gold-leaf halo around the lamp as a symbol of Hari’s refuge; Daiva as a dark, stylized figure with chain motifs, rich reds and greens in textiles, gem-studded ornaments on the altar, high-contrast gold detailing to show the choice between right and distorted contemplation.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: a quiet night hermitage with delicate brushwork; the devotee’s face rendered with refined emotion, a translucent dream-cloud above showing Daiva as a shadow binding with thin ink-like lines; cool blues and silvers of moonlight, lyrical trees and a distant temple silhouette.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold black outlines and expressive eyes; the devotee seated in yogic posture, a stylized dark Daiva with serpentine chain patterns; the Vishnu-lamp rendered in bright yellow and red pigments, temple-wall aesthetic with symmetrical composition.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: symbolic composition—central lamp (as Hari-smṛti) surrounded by lotus and tulasi border motifs; on one side, dark swirling clouds labeled as distorted thought, on the other, floral clarity; intricate gold accents, deep blue ground, peacocks perched as witnesses of the night."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"dramatic","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["low temple bell","night insects","soft conch in distance","silence between half-verses"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: कर्मतच्चिंत्यं = कर्म + तत् + चिन्त्यम्; स्वपतोपि = स्वपतः + अपि; ह्युद्यते = हि + उद्यते.

FAQs

It implies that how one mentally frames or intends an action can condition the way consequences unfold—daiva “arises” accordingly and becomes binding and harmful when the contemplation is distorted.

It emphasizes continuity of mental impressions: wrong fixation or misconstrual of action can persist in both conscious and subconscious states, shaping one’s trajectory and repercussions.

Cultivate right understanding and intention regarding one’s actions; distorted thinking about deeds leads to binding consequences and self-destructive outcomes.
