A devotee petitions Lord Vishnu; then Śrī Bhagavān (Vishnu/Janārdana) replies.

Concept: The highest boon is not power but dāsatva in Vaikuṇṭha; Bhagavān’s ‘evam astu’ grants both the goal and purification—sins washed away by His word.

Application: Reframe success as ‘service’: choose roles and habits that increase humility, reliability, and compassion; when you err, return to sincere surrender and corrective discipline rather than despair.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Type: celestial_realm

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"The devotee, eyes wet with relief, asks only for servanthood in Vaikuṇṭha; Janārdana answers with a calm, irrevocable ‘So be it,’ and a shower of light seems to rinse away all darkness. In the background, Vaikuṇṭha appears as a lotus-city of gold and sapphire, with gentle guardians and endless lamps—inviting not conquest but loving service.","primary_figures":["Janārdana (Viṣṇu)","devotee seeking dāsatva","optional: Vaikuṇṭha attendants (Viṣṇudūtas)"],"setting":"Threshold between earthly shrine and a vision of Vaikuṇṭha—lotus terraces, jeweled pillars, and a cosmic sky beyond.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["sapphire blue","molten gold","pearl white","lotus magenta","turquoise"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Janārdana seated on a lotus throne, gold leaf everywhere—halo, throne, and Vaikuṇṭha architecture—devotee kneeling requesting dāsatva, Viṣṇudūtas at sides with conch and mace motifs, a luminous ‘evam astu’ moment depicted as golden rays washing over the devotee, rich reds/greens and gem-studded ornamentation.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: a gentle, intimate boon-granting scene with refined expressions—Viṣṇu’s compassionate gaze, devotee’s humble posture—behind them a dreamy Vaikuṇṭha lotus-city in pale gold and blue, delicate cloud bands, soft gradients, minimal but precise ornamentation emphasizing serenity and assurance.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: iconic Janārdana with chakra and shankha, devotee at base, stylized Vaikuṇṭha lotus architecture in symmetrical panels, bold outlines and saturated pigments, rhythmic decorative borders, the ‘washing away of sins’ shown as cascading white-gold bands.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: Vaikuṇṭha as a grand lotus mandala, Janārdana central, intricate floral borders and lamp rows, deep blue background with gold highlights, attendants and lotuses repeating in patterns, devotee at bottom receiving a shower of light symbolizing nirdhūta-kalmaṣa."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["conch shell","temple bells","soft choral ‘Hari’ refrain","gentle wind (celestial)","silence after ‘evam astu’"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: श्रीभगवानुवाच = श्री + भगवान् + उवाच (नकार-लोप/स्वर-सन्धि); एवमस्तु = एवम् + अस्तु; निर्धूतकल्मषा is a compound with PPP ‘धूत’.

FAQs

The speaker asks for dāsatva—humble, devoted servanthood—specifically in Vaikuṇṭha, the divine abode of Vishnu, as the desired boon.

Rather than asking for power or worldly gain, the devotee asks only for service to the Lord; the Lord’s immediate assent highlights grace (prasāda) responding to sincere devotion.

The Lord affirms that wholehearted devotion leads to inner purification—“nirdhūta-kalmaṣā”—and encourages the devotee onward, implying that divine grace removes moral impurity and establishes one in a higher spiritual destiny.
