Unspecified (a male speaker addressing a woman as 'śubhe')

Concept: Marriage is framed as a dharmic institution: eligibility (gṛhastha-brāhmaṇa) and responsibility are prerequisites for receiving a bride.

Application: Choose life-partners and commitments based on character, responsibility, and dharmic readiness rather than mere emotion; keep promises explicit and accountable.

Primary Rasa: vira

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A solemn household elder speaks with measured authority to an auspicious lady, declaring a clear condition for his daughter’s hand: only one who truly becomes a brāhmaṇa householder fit for duty will be accepted as son-in-law. The scene feels contractual yet sacred, as if a vow is being spoken before unseen deities of the home.","primary_figures":["household elder/father figure","auspicious lady (śubhe)","attendants or family witnesses"],"setting":"Interior hall with ritual vessels, palm-leaf manuscripts, and a small domestic altar indicating the gravity of gṛhastha commitments","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["burnished gold","vermilion","ivory white","leaf green","smoky brown"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: authoritative elder declaring marriage condition to an auspicious lady inside a richly ornamented hall; gold leaf halos and borders, ritual vessels and manuscripts rendered with jewel-like detail, deep vermilion and green textiles, traditional South Indian iconographic symmetry, subtle shankha-chakra motifs on pillars to hint Vaiṣṇava dharma.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: refined indoor dialogue—elder seated on a carpet, hand raised in declarative gesture, lady listening attentively; delicate architectural lines, cool shadows, minimal but elegant ritual objects, lyrical restraint emphasizing dharmic resolve.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines and strong gestures—elder’s proclamation, lady’s attentive posture; warm yellow-red ground, green accents, stylized altar flame; temple-wall narrative clarity with rhythmic ornamentation.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: marriage-condition scene framed by ornate floral borders and lotus medallions; textile patterns incorporate shankha-chakra and tulasi-leaf motifs as auspicious signs; deep blues and gold highlights, intricate border work suggesting sacred contract."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"narrative","suggested_raga":"Yaman","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["conch shell (distant)","temple bell","murmur of witnesses","rustle of cloth"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: No major sandhi splits required; verse already largely padaccheda-ready. 'जामात्रे' is dative singular of जामातृ.

FAQs

It highlights the esteem given to the gṛhastha (householder) stage, specifically when embodied by a brāhmaṇa living according to dharma, as a worthy recipient of marital alliance.

The speaker promises to give his daughter in marriage to the man who will become (or is recognized as) a brāhmaṇa householder connected with the speaker’s purpose—making him the speaker’s son-in-law.

Commitments regarding family alliances are framed as dharmic vows; the verse stresses clarity and certainty in one’s promise (“no doubt”), implying integrity and responsibility in social obligations.
