Unspecified messenger/narrator addressing a hero (vīra); exact speaker not identifiable from this single verse alone.

Concept: Human affairs can be interwoven with divine agencies; a ‘mission’ framed by devas signals karmic ripening and responsibility.

Application: When entrusted with responsibility, act with integrity; treat ‘being sent’ (commission) as a call to dharma, not ego.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: vira

FAQs

The verse refers to “Śiva’s daughter” (śivasya kanyā) without naming her. Identifying her (e.g., a specific goddess figure) requires surrounding verses or the chapter context.

It states that the speaker is acting under divine instruction: first commissioned by Śiva’s daughter, and earlier (purā) also sent for the addressee’s benefit by Devadeva together with Devī.

A key theme is faithful execution of a divinely entrusted duty—acting not from personal impulse but as a messenger aligned with higher purpose and the welfare of the one addressed.
