The Dialogue between Rukmāṅgada and Dharmāṅgada
स पुत्रो योऽधिकख्यातः पितुर्भवति भूतले । प्रकाशयति सर्वत्र स्वकरैरिव भास्करः ॥ ८ ॥
sa putro yo'dhikakhyātaḥ piturbhavati bhūtale | prakāśayati sarvatra svakarairiva bhāskaraḥ || 8 ||
Narada (teaching on putra-dharma within Uttara-Bhaga narrative)
Vrata: none
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"vira","secondary_rasa":"shanta","emotional_journey":"Moves from praise-definition of the ideal son to an uplifting climax via the solar simile of radiance and fame."}
It defines “true sonship” as dharmic excellence that uplifts one’s lineage—fame here implies virtue and public benefit, like sunlight that naturally spreads.
By implication, a devotee-son reflects dharma through conduct; such steady sāttvika living becomes a visible ‘light’ that inspires others toward Vishnu-bhakti and righteous life.
No specific Vedanga is taught directly; the practical takeaway is sadācāra (ethical discipline) and social dharma—conduct that makes one’s merit ‘known’ without proclamation.
