Prabhāsa-kṣetra: Circuit of Tīrthas and Shrines Leading to Bhukti and Mokṣa
ऋषितोयनदीं प्राप्य स्नात्वा तत्र नरः शुचिः । दत्वा सुवर्णं विप्राय मुच्यते सर्वपातकैः ॥ ६१ ॥
ṛṣitoyanadīṃ prāpya snātvā tatra naraḥ śuciḥ | datvā suvarṇaṃ viprāya mucyate sarvapātakaiḥ || 61 ||
Narada (teaching in a tirtha-mahatmya context, traditionally within Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue frames)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It presents a classic tirtha-mahātmya principle: sacred bathing (snāna) purifies the practitioner, and charity to a worthy brāhmaṇa—here specifically suvarṇa-dāna—functions as a powerful expiation (prāyaścitta) that removes accumulated pāpa.
Though the verse focuses on snāna and dāna, it supports bhakti indirectly by prescribing purity (śauca) and selfless giving—foundational disciplines that prepare the heart for sustained devotion and worship in a tirtha setting.
It reflects Kalpa (ritual procedure) and Dharmaśāstra-style practice: performing tirtha-snāna with śauca and completing the act with dāna (suvarṇa to a vipra) as an applied method of prāyaścitta.
