Puruṣottama-māhātmya
The Greatness of Puruṣottama Kṣetra
yama uvāca | asminnāyatane puṇye vikhyāte puruṣottame | iṃdrinīlamayī sṛṣṭā pratimā sārvakāmikī || 84 ||
Yama
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It highlights the exceptional sanctity of the Puruṣottama shrine by describing a rare indranīla (blue-sapphire) deity-image whose darśana and worship are portrayed as highly efficacious, capable of granting comprehensive worldly and spiritual aims.
By focusing on the pratimā in a famed holy abode, the verse reinforces temple-centered bhakti—approaching the Lord through consecrated form (mūrti), sacred space (kṣetra), and faith in the fruit-bearing power of worship.
Indirectly, it points to āgamic/ritual application (connected with Kalpa): the importance of pratimā and āyatana in structured worship—installation, sanctity of place, and prescribed acts that make a shrine a recognized tirtha.
