The Account of Mohinī
Mohinī-upākhyāna
mahatā gauraveṇāpi namaścakre svayaṃ vidhiḥ | bhūpa rudrādidevaistu pūjyo mānyaḥ pitāmahaḥ || 30 ||
Narada (narrative voice within the Uttara-Bhaga mahatmya section; traditional dialogue frame assumes Narada teaching in puranic discourse)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta (peace)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
It teaches that true spiritual culture is marked by humility and proper reverence—so much so that even Brahmā is depicted as offering respectful obeisance, establishing namaskāra as a dharmic virtue.
Bhakti is shown through concrete devotional conduct—offering namaskāra and honoring worship-worthy beings—highlighting that devotion is expressed through respectful worship (pūjā) and acknowledgment of divine authority.
The verse aligns with kalpa-style ritual etiquette (pūjā-vidhi): who is to be honored (mānya) and worshipped (pūjya), emphasizing correct conduct and hierarchy in ceremonial practice rather than a technical lesson in grammar or astrology.
