Yama’s Journey to Brahmaloka
Ekadashi–Dvadashi Mahatmya in the Rukmangada Cycle
evamuccaratāṃ teṣāṃ bhūtānāṃ kṛtaśāsanaḥ | nipapātāgrato viprā brahmaṇo ravinandanaḥ || 56 ||
Suta (narrator) describing the episode to the assembled sages
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It emphasizes dharma through śāsana (restraint/discipline): disruptive beings are brought under control, and a divine figure connected to Brahmā and the solar line appears, signaling restoration of order within the sacred narrative.
Indirectly, it supports bhakti by showing that spiritual life and tirtha-oriented faith flourish when adharma and chaotic forces are restrained; devotion is protected by the maintenance of cosmic and ritual order.
Vyākaraṇa-style precision is useful here: compounds like kṛtaśāsanaḥ and patronymics like ravinandanaḥ clarify roles and lineage, helping a reader interpret Purāṇic narrative with grammatical accuracy.
