The Description of Mohinī’s Love Episode
vasiṣṭha uvāca | so'nujñāto mahīpālaḥ priyābhiḥ priyakāmukaḥ | praharṣamatulaṃ lebhe dharmāṃgadamuvāca ha || 1 ||
Vasiṣṭha
Vrata: none
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"shanta","secondary_rasa":"bhakti","emotional_journey":"Permission and relief mature into ‘incomparable joy’, then settle into purposeful gravity as counsel to the successor begins."}
It marks a narrative turning point: after receiving approval, the king experiences uplifting joy and proceeds to speak with Dharmāṅgada, indicating that right consent and dharmic sanction precede action and instruction.
This verse does not directly teach bhakti; it sets the scene for subsequent instruction by showing orderly conduct (permission, joy, respectful address), which in Purāṇic narratives often frames later dharma and devotion teachings.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught in this verse; it is primarily narrative and dialogic, preparing for teachings that may follow in the chapter.
