The Exposition of the Nityā-paṭala
पानं च तावत्कुर्वीत यावता स्यान्मनोलयः । ततः करोति चेत्सद्यः पातकी भवति ध्रुवम् ॥ २५ ॥
pānaṃ ca tāvatkurvīta yāvatā syānmanolayaḥ | tataḥ karoti cetsadyaḥ pātakī bhavati dhruvam || 25 ||
جتنی دیر تک دل و ذہن لَے پا کر پرسکون ہو، اتنی ہی دیر پینا چاہیے۔ اس کے بعد بھی اگر جاری رکھے تو وہ یقیناً فوراً گنہگار ہو جاتا ہے۔

It sets a dharmic boundary: indulgence is judged by its effect on the mind—once one crosses the limit and continues, it turns into pāpa and makes the person a pātakī.

Ācāra (right conduct) and niyama (self-regulation) are emphasized—practical discipline that supports ritual purity and focused recitation/learning within Vedanga-oriented life.
