Dīkṣā, Mantra-Types, Mantra-Doṣas, and Qualifications of Ācārya–Śiṣya
divyaṃ bhāvaṃ yato dadyātkṣiṇuyādduritāni ca | ato dīkṣeti sā proktā sarvāgamaviśāradaiḥ || 2 ||
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It defines dīkṣā as a sanctifying initiation that both elevates the practitioner’s inner spiritual state (divya-bhāva) and removes accumulated negativity and sin (durita-kṣaya).
By emphasizing divya-bhāva—an awakened, purified inner attitude—this verse points to the devotional prerequisite of inner transformation, making worship and mantra-practice fit for divine grace.
It highlights ritual-technical doctrine: the formal concept of dīkṣā as taught in Āgamic/Vaidika procedure—purification and authorization for mantra and sacrificial observances.
