गङ्गामाहात्म्य — The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
माता वा जनको वापि भ्राता वा तनयोऽपि वा । अधर्मं कुरुते यस्तु स एव रिपुरिष्यते ॥ ११५ ॥
mātā vā janako vāpi bhrātā vā tanayo'pi vā | adharmaṃ kurute yastu sa eva ripuriṣyate || 115 ||
ماں ہو یا باپ، بھائی ہو یا بیٹا—جو اَدھرم کرے، وہی دشمن سمجھا جائے۔
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
It teaches dharma-pradhānatā—righteousness must be placed above personal attachment; spiritual life collapses when adharma is excused due to family bonds.
Bhakti requires integrity and alignment with dharma; protecting or supporting adharma—even for relatives—undermines devotion and distances one from the Lord’s will.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught in this verse; it is primarily a nīti/dharma instruction on ethical discernment and conduct.
