The Characteristics of Devotion to Hari
tasmācchṛṇuṣva viprendra satyametad bravīmyaham | dehayoganivṛtyarthaṃ sadya eva janārdanam || 34 ||
Sanatkumara (addressing Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It presents a direct soteriological instruction: liberation begins by ending identification and attachment to the body, achieved most swiftly through immediate refuge in Janārdana (Viṣṇu).
Bhakti here is framed as prompt śaraṇāgati—turning to Janārdana “at once”—as the most effective means to dissolve deha-abhimāna (body-centered ego) and move toward mokṣa.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is applied spiritual discipline—cultivating nivṛtti (withdrawal) from bodily attachment through focused devotion to Viṣṇu.
