Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas and the Sin-destroying Power of Viṣṇu-smaraṇa
snātvardravāsā niyato nārāyaṇamanusmaran | pakvāyasanibhaṃ kṛtvā pibejcaivodakaṃ tataḥ || 25 ||
Narada (instructional narration within a vrata/ritual context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta (peace)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
It links external purity (bathing, simple disciplined conduct) with inner purity (continuous remembrance of Nārāyaṇa), showing that ritual acts become spiritually effective when anchored in Vishnu-smaraṇa.
Bhakti here is expressed as anusmaraṇa—repeated, mindful remembrance of Nārāyaṇa even while performing routine ritual steps, making devotion a continuous practice rather than a separate activity.
It reflects Kalpa/ritual discipline (procedural conduct after स्नान), emphasizing āchāra—how to perform a vow or observance with restraint, purity, and prescribed sequencing.
