Nārada’s Hymn to Viṣṇu
Nāradasya Viṣṇu-stavaḥ
atitheḥ pūjanaṃ vāpi yena viṣṇuḥ prasīdati | evamādīni guhyāni harituṣṭikarāṇi ca | anugṛhya ca māṃ nāthāstattvato vaktumarhatha || 20 ||
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames atithi-sevā (honoring guests) as a direct means of pleasing Viṣṇu and requests the sages to reveal the deeper, “secret” dharmas that produce Hari’s satisfaction.
Bhakti is shown as practical and relational: service offered to beings—especially guests received with reverence—is treated as service to Hari, and thus becomes a devotional act.
Ritual conduct and dharma-practice are emphasized (proper reception and honoring of an atithi); it is more about right observance and etiquette than a technical Vedanga like Jyotiṣa or Vyākaraṇa in this specific verse.
