bhagīratha uvāca | anugrāhyosmi yadi te varadānānmaheśvara | tadā gaṅgāṃ prayacchāsmatpitṝṇāṃ muktihetave || 104 ||
Bhagīratha
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: karuna
It presents sacred Gaṅgā as a divinely granted tīrtha whose descent is sought specifically for pitṛ-upliftment—linking Śiva’s grace, ancestral duty, and the ultimate aim of mokṣa.
Bhagīratha approaches Maheśvara with humility and a selfless intention (for his ancestors), illustrating bhakti as surrender and prayer for divine grace rather than personal gain.
It implicitly supports ritual duty toward ancestors (pitṛ-kārya such as tarpaṇa/śrāddha at tīrthas), though no specific Vedāṅga technique (like vyākaraṇa or jyotiṣa) is directly taught in this verse.
