It frames Jyotiṣa as a structured Vedic science that reads karmic patterns—longevity, adversity, and livelihood—so that one can respond with dharma, restraint, and spiritual priorities rather than anxiety.
While the verse is technical, its implication supports Bhakti by reminding that worldly rise (rāja-yogas) and hardship (ariṣṭas) are karmically conditioned; devotion to Vishnu steadies the mind beyond such fluctuations.
Vedāṅga Jyotiṣa: assessing birth/conception indications, ariṣṭa (misfortune) analysis, āyuḥ (longevity), daśā systems, aṣṭakavarga calculations, and interpretation of rāja-yogas and nābhasa yogas.
